*This post contains a mixture of PR samples and items I have bought for my family. All are items I love. As always all opinions are my own.
I have to confess that I probably love Christmas Eve, even more than Christmas Day itself. After all, there is something magical, and incredibly precious about all that anticipation!
Three years ago we started making Christmas Eve boxes for the children, then last year I added little gifts for the adults too. It has become a tradition I love. After all it’s just another way of adding to the magic!
So here are just a few of the things we’ll be including this year:
New PJs are a definite must, and as half of our family have Spanish origins these gorgeous Mama Bear, Papa Bear and Bear Cub pyjamas really did feel like the perfect fit. We did matching PJs for the first time last year, and honestly it’s hard to decide whether they were a bigger hit with Grandma or the Lion. I know both are already excited to see what this year’s will be like. I have a feeling they will be a huge hit!
When it comes to treats, chocolate is a definite must. Everyone gets their own favourites – usually from Hotel Chocolat – which adds a splash of decadence to the day. This year the grown ups are also getting PATI & COCO’s indulgent chocolate desserts. They really are the perfect treat for when the children are sleeping and we are sat admiring the Christmas tree lights as we wait (not so patiently) for the morning after.
Books are always a must, and this year for the Lion, Mr Men were the obvious choice. He loves the stories and is already familiar with the characters so I have a feeling they will be being read for many months after the big day has passed. The Bear’s book was bought on a trip to Cambridge with some university friends – I fell in love with the striking colour – but I also love that it will help introduce her to the classics through a story that she already knows and loves.
I always love to include something to do in my boxes, and whilst these Disney Dominoes practically leapt into my basket when we away with Mickey earlier in the year as the perfect choice for the Lion, I really struggled to think of the perfect activity for the Bear this year. In the end nail polish to paint her nails and Disney Christmas Earrings were what I went for.. but I am definitely still on the hunt for something extra to add to her box to ‘play’ with during the day.
In preparation for the big day both the adults and the children have co-ordinating Christmas jumpers in their boxes for the first time this year. These are probably my favourite addition, especially because they are so bright and colourful. The Lion hated taking his matching PJs off last Christmas, so I know he is going to love that he can still match on Christmas Day. And as for Grandma and Grandad, I have a feeling their excitement will be equally huge. I can definitely envisage lots of photographs of everyone being taken in them.
In order to encourage the Lion into bed, he has a special new talking Bing Bunny, the perfect companion to see him through until the morning after. The TV show is a huge hit in our house – I love how Bing is allowed to make mistakes and think them through, and I know having our very own Bing will help us introduce more of those conversations into our home.
And last, but definitely not least – it would not be Christmas without Christmas socks! This year the men’s have come from Sock Shop, whilst us girls have Disney themed Christmas socks from Primark.
I would love to know what you are putting in your Christmas Eve boxes this year. After all, it’s never too late to slot in an extra treat or two.
