One of my earliest memories as a child is walking from our house to my aunt’s accompanied by my mum and our dog who was proudly sporting a ribbon in her hair. I still remember the excitement of going to watch ‘a real’ Prince and Princess get married.
I wouldn’t describe myself as an avid royalist. But I do think there is something a little big magical about all things Royal – after all it’s a little bit like a Disney movie coming to life. And perhaps never more so than with the weddings of Kate and William, and now Megan and Harry. Ordinary women whose lives have been transformed, and who have as Kate has shown with Minds Together the power to change the lives of others.
So next Saturday we will be watching (albeit to the probable disinterest of the Other Half), because not only is the wedding a moment in history, but it is concrete proof that Fairytales do come true…. and that is something that we all need to remember.
If you like us will be celebrating on the day (or indeed are off to a Wedding in person this summer) why not pop along to Amazon Handmade’s new wedding shop and check out their fantastic array of gifts and decorations.
For those of you who haven’t visited before Amazon Handmade is perfect for those of you who, like me, love to support small sellers, who make unique products. The ideal place to mooch around for a gift for the person who truly does have everything.
Their Mrs Prosecco glass has to be my personal favourite, the perfect gift for any new bride. After all there is nothing like becoming ‘Mrs’ for the very first time.
For those with little girls (and slightly bigger ones – the Bear has already taken quite a shine to it) you won’t go far wrong with the Princess Crown Headband. The perfect lasting keepsake of the day, and a lasting reminder that anyone truly can become a Princess.
And on the note of keepsakes, I’ve always been a fan of bunting. Weather permitting we’ll be celebrating with a small garden party and I’m looking forward to hanging our bunting and celebrating in style. And what could be more reminiscent of the English countryside than Cath Kidson’s floral prints. I have a feeling the Bear will be sneaking it away once the day is over and claiming it very firmly as hers.
Last but not least is this stunning confetti made from dried rose petals. Biodegradable and smelling divine. It will definitely be my confetti of choice for future weddings, but this particular set won’t be being thrown in the air. It will be taking up its place in our memory box, as a lasting reminder of the day.
And of course on top of our mini family celebration I’m more than a little excited to see the dress!
How about you, will you be watching next Saturday?
