A Recipe For A Barraquito: Canary Island Coffee

A Recipe For A Barraquito: Canary Island Coffee

Whenever my Father-in-law comes to stay with us from the Canary Islands, there is one thing he misses: Barraquito, traditional Canary Island coffee.

This week after receiving our De’Longhi KG521.M Coffee Grinder from AO I decided it was time I learnt to make one. So for those of you who are also coffee lovers here is the recipe.

Ingredients

  • Freshly ground coffee
  • Hot water
  • Condensed milk
  • Vanilla liqueur
  • Coffee beans
  • Lemon zest

Method

  1. Using a cafetière make a pot of coffee to expresso strength, or weaker if desired.
  2. Fill 1/4 of a small glass with condensed milk.
  3. Top up the glass to 3/4 full with coffee from the cafetière.
  4. Add a small amount of vanilla liqueur and a coffee bean to the mixture.
  5. Serve with lemon zest on the side.
